Fellow Engineers,
The Planning Committee for the North Carolina Society of Engineers Winter Meeting has arranged a truly four-star agenda that addresses in depth some of our country’s biggest challenges: energy, environment, transportation and the big question --how do we pay for it? The speakers are genuine experts in their field and will provide insight into some of the more significant changes our society will be facing during the next ten years and the role that we as engineers must play.
This is a special year for the Society as we celebrate our ninetieth anniversary in Durham, North Carolina where NCSE was founded in 1918. Our de facto historian, Marcus Crotts, will reminisce and remind us of the accomplishments of the Society and its members in times past and will conclude our technical session at noon on Saturday, January 31 with a celebration and photographs at the historic Durham landmark noting the establishment of the North Carolina Society of Engineers.
Saturday evening, January 31 will be a special occasion with a reception sponsored by Duke Energy at 7 PM and followed by a banquet at 8 PM. During the meal guests will be entertained by “The Grains of Time”, an a cappella group from NC State that is nationally recognized for its accomplishments.
In conclusion I wish to thank the leadership of the Durham Engineers Club for their participation and the role that they are playing in co-sponsoring this meeting. Without their involvement we could not have accomplished such an excellent program.
I invite you to come and join with us to learn, celebrate, and have a good time.
Sincerely,
Lynn Eury, PE
President
