Ronald C. Harrell Engineering Scholarship Instructions 2020
Scholarship Details
Scholarship Amount: $5,000 (Payments are split evenly over two semesters of successful school work)
Application Deadline: Must be received by Monday - May 31, 2021
Complete applications will be reviewed and graded. The top applicants are invited to an in-person interview in early July.
The winner will be chosen, in descending level of importance, according to:
1) Financial need
2) Desire to practice engineering in North Carolina
2) Academic merit
3) Application and/or Interviews
The winner and his/her immediate family will be the guest of the Society at the winter banquet for the official scholarship presentation.
Requirements:
1. North Carolina resident and Full Time Undergraduate Student
2. United States citizen
3. Enrolled in Engineering or Engineering Technology at one of the following universities:
4. Students currently completing one of the North Carolina Engineering Transfer Programs and are accepted at one of the previously mentioned engineering schools are qualified to apply.
Transfer Programs:
5. Rising sophomore, junior, senior and graduate student in good academic standing.
6. Current freshmen who will have completed the academic year by the scholarship deadline are eligible.

- Duke University, Durham, NC
- Campbell University, Buies Creek, NC
4. Students currently completing one of the North Carolina Engineering Transfer Programs and are accepted at one of the previously mentioned engineering schools are qualified to apply.
Transfer Programs:
- University of North Carolina @ Asheville
- University of North Carolina @ Wilmington
- University of North Carolina @ Pembroke
- N.C. State University / Craven Community College Partnership Program
- Guilford Technical Community College

Application Instructions

2. The most recent academic transcripts from your college need to be sent directly to the Scholarship Committee:

3. Two (2) letters of recommendation completed by individuals who can validate your character. Your references will be emailed a form for completion by the Scholarship Committee upon submission of your application.
4. The Scholarship Committee will be responsible for securing the completed applications, validating the information, checking references as needed, and personally interviewing a “set” of finalists as they deem necessary.
5. The Scholarship Committee will be the final authority on the scholarship winner and will be responsible for notifying the winner.
6. The scholarship will be open to all qualified students. Exception: Immediate family members of NCSE Members are not eligible to apply.
7. Application and all necessary paperwork should be submitted no later than May 1, 2020.
Note: Please remember that the transcripts should be sent directly to the Scholarship Committee from your school. Documents sent to the applicant and forwarded to the committee can be disallowed at the discretion of the committee.
